Shout Out to the Trout

If there ever was a fish worth talking about,

It’s all the various kinds of trout!

The native brook is a sight to see,

With that blood red color on its belly.

The orange-red colors on the brown trout

Should make you want to shout

Have you ever seen beauty such as this,

In some Iowa streams this beauty exists.

Trout are cool and that’s what they like,

When the water is hot, they won’t survive.

So let’s shout out to the trout,

Cause it’s a big deal what we’re talking about!

In select Iowa streams,

That are 50 to 75 degrees

You will find these beautiful fish

You know that the anglers can’t resist

This fish with all the clout.

Let’s give a shout out

To the beautiful trout!

Loose soil and heavy rain

Produce muddy currents in out streams today.

These conditions as far as we see,

Cause the trout population to decrease.

Conservation and land management

Can give the trout better environments.

With cooler conditions in our local streams,

The trout can survive cause the water stays clean.

There’s an increase in spawning trout,

That’s what helping Mother Nature is all about!
