Troubled Waters

"Troubled Waters" explores rivers and the human relationship with them. Winner of an Iowa Motion Picture Association (IMPA) award for excellence in educational production, "Troubled Waters" calls attention to human attitudes and treatment of rivers, both good and bad. "Troubled Waters" also won IMPA awards for the script and the original music score composed by Iowa musicians.

Rivers meander through the lives of everyone. They are tarnished gems in our natural landscapes. They are at the heart of human development.

“Troubled Waters” explores what rivers want to do and what humans want to do with them. It calls attention to the needs of rivers and the cumulative effect humans have had on these waters. The video begins a dialogue about the issues challenging water systems. Filmed entirely in Iowa, we hope that "Troubled Waters" will inspire a greater appreciation for rivers, increasing our awareness of their importance and our interwoven relationships with them.
